Importance of a Good Emotional Environment

Every person has emotional intellect, but it is often underestimated. It is a common myth that intelligence quotation is more important, but it is just a tip of an iceberg. Emotional intelligence (often referred as EI) is a body of this iceberg which gives background to gaining high rates when passing IQ tests.

So what is emotional intellect?

It is our emotional well-being that affects all aspects of our life. If one’s emotional state is unstable than he will not be able to achieve good results in anything. Stable emotional well-being is provided by good emotional environment. It is crucial to provide it, especially for children who are just learning the world around them.

Why is it important?

A¬†good emotional environment will give kids a sense of security. That’s one of the basic instincts that has to be satisfied prior to satisfying social and emotional instincts. When feeling secure, children are not afraid to go out and explore everything that grabs their attention. They know there is a shelter they can always go back to for help and sympathy. On the other side, little ones need to explore the inside too. They need to deal with their own feelings, distinguish bad from good ones, learn to control emotions, and show proper emotion in a proper time and place. This can only be achieved when they feel emotionally secure.

Who can provide such environment?

Parents or people who substitute them are the most important people in everyone’s life. These adults are responsible to surrounding a child with love and care and satisfying all his physical and emotion needs. The kid has to be sure that he can always turn to this people and he will be warmly accepted.

These are conditions that has to be provided in order for a child to have positive and stable emotional environment and develop his emotional intellect.
