School Leaders and Advisers
The Antidote Process will help you open up a conversation across a whole school community about how to make teaching and learning even more enjoyable. It:
  • provides a safe and confidential opportunity for everyone to describe their experience, and then contribute their ideas about how to make things even better. In this way, it deploys student voice and staff voice to improve the school
  • engages each student in thinking about the factors that block and stimulate his or her learning. This provides a valuable underpinning for personalised learning and assessment for learning, helping to boost levels of achievement
  • addresses the quality of communication and relationships so as to help yours become a truly healthy school which can effectively address social and emotional aspects of learning (SEAL) as well as mental health issues
  • helps inform the development of effective leadership strategies by providing valuable information about what is really going on in every area of the school
And … the SEELS survey that we use will also provide lots of information to put in your SEF.

What do headteachers and say after working with Antidote?

“Antidote has given us a framework to understand the emotional dimension to what is going on. Having SEELS there to inform us has really helped us address the Every Child Matters agenda. If you use it in an open way to look systemically at the school, it can bring about long-lasting change. It is a long process shifting cultures away from results and standards, but is a very exciting thing to be doing.”
Andrew Fell, headteacher of Chantry High School

“Antidote started the staff talking as a group and imperceptibly the emotional climate in the school began to change. People were coming to me saying, ‘We have a problem here but we’ve thought of a couple of solutions that might work. Before they used to say, ‘We have a problem here. We’ll leave it with you.’”
Bernadette Thompson, headteacher of Cippenham Primary School
