PROGRESS stages
The PROGRESS Programme has five stages:
Stage 1 – Familiarise and Identify
Data from the Baseline Environment for Learning Survey (ELS) about the quality of people’s experience across the school community, and the Powerful Learning Survey (PLS) about how students rate themselves as learners, is used to start conversations about the factors that affect teaching and learning in the school.
Stage 2 – Understand and Interpret
We deliver a tailored Follow-on Environment for Learning Survey (ELS) from our initial findings that gives us the information we need to build a rich picture of what is happening in the school, both for staff and students.
Stage 3 – Create and Develop
We draw out the staff and students’ creative ideas for making learning and wellbeing even better. We then evolve these ideas into a coherent strategy that has buy-in from across the school.
Stage 4 – Implement and Integrate
We support the school in implementing the strategy so that it is sustainable and will build through time.
Stage 5 – Review and Reappraise
Periodically, we run a fresh survey – combining the original survey with further tailored questions – to refine the strategy further.
